Once you've mastered the script and have a few parties under your belt, it's a great idea to create your own script! You can use the existing script as a template, or guide, but create your own content. Here are a few tips for making a great party script!!
- Keep the basic format of the party - one pre-party post each day, on the day of the party share just one or two pre-party posts and then have the live portion of the party last no more than an hour but closer to 40 minutes or a half hour even is ideal, do your day after posts and follow ups just like in the existing script. Keep the party private and no more than 50 PERSONALLY INVITED guests!
- Make a copy of the existing script and replace videos with your own, tweak wording so it sounds more like "you" while keeping the "bones" of the script the same as the existing script. Even replacing one video a week, you will soon have your OWN script featuring your own face! Your customers really will connect with YOU and will appreciate knowing who they are working with!
- If making a copy of the existing script is not what you're going for, start with a blank slate. Sometimes creating a fake FB event to test posts in is a great way to make sure you're on the right track. Gather up the graphics and videos you'd like to incorporate by posting them on this fake event and edit the wording until it's just right! Then, make sure you've copied and pasted everything into a Google or Word doc so you have the "recipe" saved!
- Keep your posts as brief as possible and make sure they are FUN (remember, this is a party!!!)
- Don't skip the hostess coaching portion of the existing script - of course, making it your own is ideal, but following this format will help your party to be more successful.
- Pick a theme (baby shower, Christmas in July, 12 days of Christmas, Black Friday, Easter Basket Party, etc) if you are looking to spice things up! Go through the existing script and tweak each post so that it has wording consistent with your theme. Or, replace each post with your own videos specially made for the theme you've chosen! Consider doing graphic posts rather than video posts for some of your posts, too. Adding a theme-appropriate game in the pre-party portion is a fun way to reinforce your theme, and get people excited. We discourage games during the live portion of the party because it tends to distract from getting the information about our books to your potential customers and can turn certain customers off to shopping.
- If you are doing a couple day long event, consider still including a live portion at some point. Offering extra raffle tickets for attending the live portion is a great way to boost attendance. If your party starts Wednesday and ends Saturday, maybe the live portion would work well on Thursday night. You can still spread out party posts and other fun tidbits throughout those few days, and get a live crew in attendance, too. The few days the party is running, do not over-post. 2 posts a day, tops!! Don't want to spam newsfeeds and end up in FB jail! :)
- Set up a FAKE event on Facebook to test out your script. Invite your sponsor or Team Leader to go over your posts and help you tweak anything that needs a final polish before you debut your script for real.
- When you've tested your script a couple of times and found it to work well and not in need of too much additional tweaking, share the love! Make a public copy on Google docs to share with the team!
